-      Taking all responsibilities of Managing Director regarding great project in Algeria established between Orascom(51% and Sonatrch49%), this project including two Ammonia plants each plant has capacity of 2200 MTPD and one Urea plant of 3450 MTPD,one Ammonia plant is utilized in producing urea and other ammonia plant is completely for export ammonia liquid. This project is under Execution now in Oran –Algeria.

-      This complex completed and under commissioning now.

Responsibilities as the Vice Chairman of the Production Affairs

1)     Directly reporting to AFC's chairman and CEO.

2)     Assisting the chairman in setting the overall corporate vision and strategies.

3)     Being the chairman deputy in cases of his absence.

4)     Supervising and controlling the production and process plants staff.

5)     Directing and controlling the continuous effective running of the plants to fulfill the corporate operational and functional strategies.

6)     Leading all the technical groups (process, maintenance, engineering, services) during any problems and shutdowns of any plant till restarting again.

7)     Handling and directing negotiations concerning any subject internally or externally as a vice chairman or as a chairman deputy.

8)     Developing new products and improving the quality of the existing products, which is handled through heading various delegated teams regarding this issue.

9)     Responsible for the design and developing section who is responsible for designing and developing the new units of vessels.

10) Developing, leading, supervising, and executing any plans for establishing new plants / products or restructuring exisiting ones.

11) Cooperating in defining the corporate direction and responsibilities regarding the environmental impact and quality assurance.

5)   Attending, in cooperation with the chairman and other board members,  the yearly general assembly of the company shareholders to present the corporate target achievements and financial position.

6)   Handling any discussions regarding plants or units shutdowns, decreasing or increasing loads, annual shutdowns and arranging the maintenance in connection with other departments.

 

 

-    ABU QIR (III) Production Sectors Head (1999- 2003).

Responsibilities as the Production Sectors Head

1)     Preparing and executing Abu Qir (III) Plant general policies, in accordance with the overall corporate polices, and providing it to the company management to approve it.

2)     Controlling and supervising the preparation and execution of the yearly and monthly production target set for Abu Qir (III).

3)     Determining the capabilities and requirements required to fulfill the plant set target and providing it to the company management for approval.

4)     Arranging with the chairman for the production affairs for any planned plant shutdowns, and load modifcations, and for emergency and annual shutdowns in connection with other departments.

5)     Defining the goals, achievements, time schedules, and responsibilities of the subordinates.

6)     Heading a daily meeting for following up the achivements and situations of all the affected and affecting departments regarding Abu Qir (III) plant targets.

7)     Effectively utilizing all the available resources to fulfill the maximum production target to achieve, and even exceed the set targets.

8)     Following up the quality and environment internal control system.

9)     Investigating operation reports and taking corrective decisions.

10) Coordinating and taking decisions for the working groups for trouble shootings.

11) Inspecting and revising the results of the technology and development concerning and improvements in operation or products.

Responsibilities as the Sector Head and Startup Manager of Abu Qir (III) Plant

1)     Cooperating in and supervising the preparation of the ITB (Invitation to Bid) for Abu Qir (III) plant, which includes 1200 MTPD Ammonia, 1925 MTPD Urea, Compressor House, Water Treatment Unit, and Bagging and Loading Unit.

2)     Negotiating with the bidder for the clarification of the ITB.

3)     Evaluating various offers and bidder negotiations and member of a committee headed by the chairman to take decisions regarding the winning bidder.

4)     Responsible for design approvals and HAZOP studies during the design phase.

5)     Head of daily committee for following up the project execution.

6)     Following up the manufacturing status of all equipment, vessels, and machines at the manufacturing workshop.

7)     Supervising the construction and erection stage and heading the daily meeting.

8)     Leading (supervision, control, and follow-up) the staff during pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, semi-commercial test guarantee of the ammonia, urea, compressors, water treatment and material handling (bagging and loading) departments.

9)     Leading the staff for preparing the reservation list during commissioning of the plant and following up the fulfillment of this reservation list during the period between provisional and final acceptance.

10) Directing negotiations between Abu Qir and contractors during pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and handing over of the plant.

11) Signing all the project certificates including: Mechanical completion certificate, commissioning certificate, performance test certificate, provisional acceptance certificate, and the final acceptance certificate.

12)       Finally handling my responsibilities as Abu Qir (III) Director (Production and Operation Sectors Head) as mentioned before.

13)       Responsible for the plant running in the normal operation.

 

-    General Manager of Nitric Acid & Ammonium Nitrate Plants (1988-1996) along with being Plant II Deputy Head.

Responsibilities as the General Manager of Nitric Acid and Ammonium Nitrate and Abu Qir (II) Plant Deputy

1)   Participating in the ITB preparation of Abu Qir (II) plant, which includes: 1000 MTPD Ammonia, 1800 MTPD (100% concentration) nitric acid (biggest plant in the world),  2400 MTPD Ammonium nitrate 33.5% N2, and other offsite facilities such as compressor, water treatment and bagging and loading units.

Responsibilities as the Urea (I) Plant Manager

1)     Supervising the production of the urea plant and handling all the related communications regarding this responsibility.

2)     Responsible for the achievement of the daily and yearly production target.

3)     Following up the operation and process.

4)     Studying and analyzing the difficulties and bottle necks and solving it and taking corrective decisions.

5)     Following up inlet and outlet data.

6)     Achieving the optimum figures to achieve the maximum production target.

7)     Reading the daily operation control report, shift report, quality and lab reports and taking decision to correct any deviations.

8)     Proposing the most convenient time for annual shutdowns, replacements, and developments.

9)     Cooperating in the development of the operation and improvement of methods and products.

10) Following up to satisfy all the production requirements such as raw materials, chemicals, and spare parts.

11) Instructing the operation staff for safety precautions for the plant and their safety.

12) Revising the employee scorecards and providing proposals for enhancing the laborforce's performance.

13) Approving the training planning and suggesting any training programs.

14) Verifying the purchase orders within my charge limits.

15) Handling all the employee's related administration papers, approvals, and permissions.

 

 

-    Urea Operation Engineer in Abu Qir (I) Plant -  (1983 – 1985)

Responsibilities as the Urea Operation Engineer and Shift Engineer

1)   Handling production and process responsibilities in defined limits in day or night.

2)   Flexibily communicating with bosses and department, and other departments, colleagues in all matters regarding the urea plant.

3)   Working in day or night shifts according to work situations and bosses' instructions.

4)   Supervising groups of technicians and labors in day or night shifts to operate the unit or plant under control.

5)   Responsible with senior engineer or plant manger for all needed data gathering.

6)   Responsible for continuous undisturbed running of the plant during the working shift.

7)   Following up and recording any technical observations that must be known by other shifts for the safe running of the plant.

8)   Following up safety instructions for the plant running and laborforce safety.

 

 

Previous Employments and Employers:

-    Shift Engineer in Jordan Fertilizer Industries Company at AQABA JORDAN, where I participated in the pre-commissioning, commissioning & test-run of the Ammonium Phosphate Plant (DAP & MAP) (1981-1983).

-    Shift & production engineer in Dyestuff & Chemical Industries Company at KAFER EL-DOWAR, where I participated in the pre-commissioning, and the start-up of the Plant (1973 – 1978).

·     These 2 employments have nearly the same responsibilities as that of the urea operation engineer and shift engineer.

 

 

Other Technical Experience:

1-    Participation in the ITB preparation of Abu Qir IV (Ammonia, Nitric Acid, Ammonium nitrate, and CAN), negotiation and offer – evaluation and final selection of the winning bidder (project wasn't completed).

2-    A member of the study task force of the environmental assessment and compliance auditing study of Abu Qir III handled in accordance with the Faculty of Engineering – Alexandria University.

3-    Shared in putting ENVIRONMENTAL GUIDLINES FOR THE FERTILIZER INDUSTRY issued by IFA and forwarded to UNIDO July 1993.

 

Special Experience:

-Carrying out lot of evaluation and feasibility studies for many plants in EGYPT, EUROPE    and Arabic countris.

-    Experiences in HAZOP studies.

-    Excessive experience with the addition of secondary and micro nutrients to fertilizers.

-    Experiences in producing bulk blending and compound fertilizers.

-    Extensive negotiation experiences.

-    Experience in feasibility studies in the fertilizers field.

-    Experience in the CDM project implementation, according to Koyoto Requirement, in Abu Qir Company with a European entrepreneur.

-    Innovation of new Fertilizers such as Urea and ammonium nitrate sustained by nutrients and micronutrients.
